Back to the Gym...

As the evenings and mornings are now darker, colder, wetter and more miserable it is time to hit the gym.....hard.  This morning was the 1st early morning session and was up at 5.30am to hit the treadmill and weights.

A quick 30 min/6.04km run and then straight into some Pyramids on the weights, working chest, shoulders, biceps and triceps.

I have decided that I really need to do some quality gym work and build more muscles in my upper body whilst burning fat.  However I still need to build my aerobic base and therefore will mix these weights/run sessions with some late night turbo sessions to keep power and build a strong cycling base.  Coupled with a weekly long outdoor ride & run this should really help show some performance gains.

Looking forward to some serious gym time!

Sat Ride - Pro V02 by stevedavis82 at Garmin Connect - Details

Saturday's ride was my 1st one 'on the road' since 12th September and it felt good, it is disappointing that I can't maintain my ideal pace for as long as I used to but this is expected after a long time off with injury. Still a good 70km + ride with Kyle was a good start.

Tacx I Magic Turbo Trainer

Recently bought the Tacx I magic Turbo training and have loved using it over the past few days, makes a massive difference being able to train despite the weather and time of day, I have been working out in my garage as early as 6am and as late as 9pm.  Great for stats and data.

Just about to go and try a real time video from one of the final mountain stages of the Tour de France, Col Du Tourmalet.
